The Friends of the Library will host their summer book sale on July 31, August 2, and August 3 during normal library hours. Stop by for bargains on books for the whole family! Hardcover books are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents or 3/$1, and DVDs and audiobooks are $1. Friday is bag sale day -- all the books you can fit in your bag for $2!
We are still accepting donations for the sale. We love good condition fiction, nonfiction, and children's books; DVDs; books on CD; puzzles; and board games. Sorry, we do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, Readers Digest Condensed Books, or anything moldy or excessively dusty. Bring your donations in during normal library hours (M-Th 9-7, Fri 9-5, Sat 9-12). Thank you!
The Friends of the Mercer Library recently sent out their 2018 membership drive mailing. Please consider becoming a member or renewing your membership with a donation.
The Friends of the Library provide funding for many of the fun things we do here at the library, including most of our public programming, new furniture, equipment, and much more. They also host several events each year including their summer Pie Social, Used Book Sale, and annual Fall Celebration.
If you aren't a member and didn't receive a renewal form in the mail, stop by and pick one up at the library or download a membership form here. You can also make a donation through PayPal by clicking the button below.
Thanks to funding from the Friends of the Mercer Public Library, a new 6.12kW solar energy system went online at the Mercer Public Library in October, 2017. As of May 21, 2018, the system has generated 3.35 MWh of power!
Check out our solar monitoring panel to see how much energy we're generating right now, or look at our statistics by the day, month, or year.
You can also view the data from our weather station to find out how our local weather affects the amount of power we generate from our photovoltaic system.
From September through May the Mercer Library book club meets once a month, generally on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00pm, for an informal discussion of each month's title. There are no requirements, and this is a relaxed and friendly group. New members are always welcome! To borrow a copy of the current title from the library, give us a call at (715)476-2366 or visit our online catalog at http://merlin.nwls.lib.wi.us.
Upcoming Book Club titles:
January 9 at 1:00pm - "Pick an Era" cookbook discussion - Select an era from the past and find a cookbook with recipes from that era that you can discuss. If you like, prepare a recipe from the book to share with the group. All are welcome, and cooking is optional! If you need help finding a cookbook, stop by the library.
