The Mercer Public Library (MPL) provides an unfiltered wireless Internet Hot Spot. This service is for patrons with Wireless-capable devices, such as wireless-capable laptops and handheld computers. This service will normally be available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 7 days a week. However, the library cannot guarantee that wireless services will be available at all scheduled times.
To access the WiFi network, you need a laptop or handheld computer that is configured to conform to standard 802.11b. Most new laptops that come configured for wireless access can automatically pick up the wireless signal.
If you are not sure if your notebook, laptop computer or other device has this functionality, please check with the manufacturer or supplier.
The Mercer Public Library has 8 public-access computer stations available to all patrons. Patrons over the age of 18 who do not hold a library card may request a temporary access card for their computer session. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a Computer Usage Agreement form signed by his/her parent or guardian on file before being granted access to the computer.
Access is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and use is offered in 45-minute sessions. A session may be extended if there are no other users waiting, but each patron is limited to 90 minutes and/or 2 log-ins per day.
Printing is available at a cost of 10 cents per black-and-white page and 25 cents per color page.
