Community Event: Beginner Basket Weaving Class

From May 04, 2018 10:00 am until 4:00 pm

Due to high demand, the instructor has added a second class session! The April 27th class is full, but registration is still open for a second session on May 4 at 10am-4pm. Register soon, as space is extremely limited.

Learn the basics of traditional basket weaving in this fun and unique class. Long time basket weaver and fiber artist Dianne Mockler of Park Falls will coach you every step of the way as you learn to weave a Cherokee Wheels cracker basket.

The Cherokee Wheels Cracker Basket is perfect for crackers or bread sticks, tea bags, or coffee pods. It's also great to corral desk clutter or cosmetics. Participants will learn how to lay out a base, weave up the sides, rim and lash. The easy, yet striking “Cherokee wheels” are added as embellishments after the the basket is completed. Many color choices will be available. Options for staining will be discussed.

Approximate size of the finished basket is 9” x 3” x 3”.

Class fee of $25 includes all materials and use of instructor’s tools. Space is limited so register early!
Please bring a bag lunch and an old towel. Wear clothes that can get a little damp. Dress for a fun mess!

Registration deadline is April 13th. Complete your registration by sending payment payable to the instructor. Please include your email address and phone number.
