Public Library

Thank you to everyone who made our 2018 Fall Celebration a huge success! It was a record year for us both in number of attendees and in the amount of money raised for the library. We couldn't have done it without the support of our community and all who donated items, attended the event, bought raffle tickets, took a chance at the "wine pull," and purchased items in the auctions.

All of the money raised will support the things we do here at the library to help Mercer residents and visitors stay informed, entertained, and connected to their community. Read on for a list of all of our donors to the event, and be sure to thank them for their support of your library!

Friends of the Library letterMay 14, 2018

The Friends of the Mercer Library recently sent out their 2018 membership drive mailing. Please consider becoming a member or renewing your membership with a donation.

The Friends of the Library provide funding for many of the fun things we do here at the library, including most of our public programming, new furniture, equipment, and much more. They also host several events each year including their summer Pie Social, Used Book Sale, and annual Fall Celebration.

If you aren't a member and didn't receive a renewal form in the mail, stop by and pick one up at the library or download a membership form here. You can also make a donation through PayPal by clicking the button below.

The Friends of the Mercer Public Library is a support organization dedicated to making your library the best it can be. Each year the Friends supply funding for items that are outside the normal operating budget of the library, including programming for children and adults. Since 2001, the Friends of the Mercer Library have raised over $163,000 to support our library!

In the past few years, the Friends have also contributed over $50,000 toward the construction of our library addition. The success of the Friends depends on its members, including all those who contribute to our annual membership drive. A membership is inexpensive, and is an easy way to support your library.

Download a Friends Membership Form (PDF) to print and mail with your donation, or use PayPal to make your donation online. It's easy and secure!

Active Friends members volunteer at book and bake sales, organize the Fall Celebration and Fundraiser and the Membership Drive, and run various raffles throughout the year. They also help with many other tasks at the library, and many are active library volunteers who work at the circulation desk, shelve books, and help process new library materials.

The Friends meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m., and new members are always welcome!

Friends of the Mercer Library President Pat Pape presents a check for $20,000 to library director Teresa Schmidt.

The Friends of the Mercer Public Library presented library director Teresa Schmidt with a check for the library's Building Fund. The Friends contributed over $50,000 toward the Mercer Library expansion project, and have continued to support the library addition with the purchase of tables and chairs for our meeting room, a new fireplace insert, storage shelving, and plans for new cabinetry in the director's office.

The Friends of the Mercer Library host programs and activities throughout the year, and use the proceeds of their work to support many library activities. In the past, the Friends have supported programming for children and adults, purchased equipment and materials for the library, and sponsored several holiday activities.
